I am so happy to report that after a two month hiatus to regroup and rebuild our resources, Grandmothers Of The Light will resume providing breakfasts and lunches to the visiting families of California Prisons beginning on August 17 and plans to do so for every bus through the end of this year. (we hope to be adding services in January 2009 and will keep you posted) In addition, we have become a Fresno Community Food Bank Agency. This means we have food to distribute to our prison families. ALL prison families are welcome to services, regardless of which prison your family is in.

If you are visiting a Central Valley Prison and you need groceries please let me know the week before you are coming so we can have food for you to take back home with you. The pickup pantry will be in Fresno and for now we will bring the food down from Oakhurst on weekends to distribute until we have our new office address (any day now). We are able to get all kinds of wonderful food, so if you are interested please let me know and I will send you a menu. As always, ALL SERVICES ARE FREE to our inmate families.

We have launched a new and ongoing fundraiser reselling used books on Amazon, so please remember us for all your book donations. When you purchase from Amazon look for the GMOTL reseller pages on Amazon.com and see if the book you want is available from us. All proceeds support GMOTL. I have also applied for a number of grants this year which are planned for supplying gas vouchers, motel vouchers, and other travel and living expenses for inmate families. Keep us in prayer for these funds which will provide such needed help for our families.

Please plan to join us for any Sunday breakfasts at the Madera Elks Lodge when you are in the area. The Good Woman Down 2008 Christmas Project is also underway preparing Christmas goodie bags for Valley State Prison. This year we are making a special effort to involve the children and let them know that these bags are their gifts to mom, or any other special lady they love. Prison Fellowship Ministries (Angel Tree) has graciously included us in their giving as they help with the Christmas Project this year!

We always need cash donations, but now, if you have no money to give, you can give us your old books and we will turn them into cash! We are deeply grateful to those of you who are so faithful to help us. You have paid our bills all year and helped us build a strong base so that the Kid's Breakfasts can go on! We are looking forward to a productive and happy future of serving the worthy families and children of California State prisoners! We love you guys!
